This has been the plight of the Lakota children for the last 150 years. In the beginning, it was the Carlisle Indian Boarding Schools who took the children. Today, it is the State of South Dakota who takes the children and places them in foster and other care. A child who may be in need needs more than a roof over his or her head and food to eat. A child needs his family, his traditions, his culture.
